  • Yoast SEO plugin includes a sitemap function.

Note if you change from your existing sitemap location to the one with Yoast, you may need to setup a 301 redirect from old to new.

You might want to read the ‘docs’ for the plugin to see everything it does.

    Short answer was “no” 🙂

That depends on whether the Yoast SEO sitemap works on your website. If you have a large number of posts, or use custom post types, then there’s a good chance the Yoast SEO sitemap will fail and Google won’t accept it. In which case, yes, you should use the Google XML sitemap plugin instead.

Thanks for the great help guys.

I am running a e-commerce site with products. Is it still favorable to use Yoast sitemap or should I go for google XML sitemap?

@aljuk: you mention that if I have large number of posts or custom post types. Does that include products on my website?

I try to create a sitemap for my website but the following error appears:
error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document

I’ve basically tried every tutorial on google but I can’t figure it out though…
