Hello @biznext,
Thanks for reaching out.
In Yoast SEO 14.0, we introduced a REST API endpoint that will give you all the necessary metadata for a specific URL. This makes it easier for headless WordPress sites to use Yoast SEO for their SEO meta output. In this article, we’ll explain how to disable or enable this feature in the Yoast SEO plugin.
There are two ways of using this: through its inclusion in the normal WP REST API responses and through our own endpoint.
You can review our REST API documentation here — https://developer.yoast.com/customization/apis/rest-api/
You can easily disable this API by going to SEO > General > Features and disabling the feature toggle.
The Yoast SEO plugin should still continue to work even with the REST API disabled, however, other procedures still rely on it within WordPress core, so you may want to review this accordingly.
Your answer is the same answer I got on the site and forums.
However I already said I read it and didn’t understand.
Can you explain it as simple as possible?
Thanks for following up with us. To be more specific, Yoast SEO usage the WordPress Rest API to perform the SEO data optimization. So, it is important that you keep the WP Rest API enabled on your website.
Note: The latest version of WordPress comes with the Rest API enabled. So, you won’t need to do anything to enable it.
So if it will be on the core, why you enable it via your plugin?
Also,
If I disable it, it can hurt my SEO?
We don’t enable WP Rest API @biznext. It is enabled by default in the WordPress core. If you disable the Rest API, Yoast SEO won’t be able to run the SEO data optimization.
While disabling the Rest API won’t hurt the SEO of your website, it will definitely hurt Yoast SEO to show the correct report.
