    Hi there,

First, thank you for creating this plugin. It’s fantastic.

I have an odd question. I just changed servers and was having issues with my htaccess file. My web hosting company renamed the file, so my site now has no active htaccess file whatsoever.

Is this an issue with WordFence? will this stop WordFence from doing what it needs to do?

I believe I’ve noticed in the past that WordFence makes changes to htaccess, so that’s why i am asking.

    Thank you!

  • Hi @ronnie55,

Wordfence (Scanner and Firewall) will still work even if there’s no .htaccess file.
However, you won’t be able to optimize the Firewall and therefore won’t benefit from the “Extended Protection“.

Another consequence, at the WordPress level, is that you won’t be able to use “Pretty Permalinks“.
