I am wondering if I have to use SpecificFeeds to manage email contacts? I like everything else so far, but not SpecificFeeds. Can I connect another email manager to Ultimate Social Media email icon?

You don’t have to – you can just not use the email icon.

If you still want to use the email icon, but do other things with it (e.g. allow people to share by email, contact you, link to a subscription form of another provider) then please have a look at this plugin https://www.ultimatelysocial.com/usm-premium/.
