I have a question… this may be more suited to the Yoast SEO plugin i’m using ???
Let’s say I make up a custom taxonomy (let’s call it ‘waggles’) and assign a custom term/tag to that taxonomy (let’s call it ‘doowop’), BUT, I don’t assign the custom tag to a post.
Will this custom tag be indexed by Google?
Will this custom tag be included in a sitemap?
What if I make a template page called ‘taxonomy-waggles.php’ I can view the custom tag by going to http://www.mywebsite.com/waggles/doowop, but because the doowop tag isn’t assigned to a post or page will it get included in a sitemap and therefore indexed by Google?
You have been provided with an option to get index your custom tag in Yoast’s SEO plugin. just visit Yoast SEO Plugin panel > Titles & metas > Taxonomy. If you don’t want your custom tags to be indexed check “nofindex , follow” below tags.
With sitemap If you are using Yoast’s XML sitemap, check “tags” in Exclude taxonomies box which will exclude tags from sitemap.
