  • my client has two closely related products (accommodation) and wants the visitor to choose either student or residential accommodation

once they’ve chosen they don’t want to make reference to the other, so it looks like a separate site (using it’s own menu)

is there a way of doing this in wordpress?

  • You can use different templates for different pages, so some pages could look like site A and other pages could look like site B.

You can also have two separate WordPress installs on the same server, that way both sites are completely independent from eachother. The home page (where the visitor chooses to go to site A or site B) could be a static page with two links.

Or, you could look into WordPress Multisite feature.

    thanks Senff,

it wasn’t so much having different templates (as they share the same brand) but having different content and menus

I think it might be a case of 2 wordpress installs in 2 directories and the homepage linking to these (as the multisite feature looks like it might be overly complicated for what I need here)
