• Hello,

I am trying to hide long images for Pinterest in my blog posts in the text editor using the following code:

    <div style="display: none;">IMAGE CODE</div>.

When I include the code and image information, preview the post and use Pinterest’s pinning tool, the long image hidden in the div is visible as a pinnable choice.

However, when I publish or update the post, the long image disappears from the Pinterest pinning choices, and is not available for pinning.

Is there any way to remedy this either with code or adjusting settings in Virtue? Thank you!

  • Hey,

Can you post a link so that I can see how it’s displaying?

    Thanks!,

Thanks. You can try this link and use either a Pin it button in your web browser, or the Pin button that’s on the left side of the screen: http://www.theorderexpert.com/stick-new-years-resolution/

    Hey lallavue,
I’m not sure I’m seeing this. Have you tried clearing your cache? Can you send a screenshot?

    Hi Hannah,

I’ve tried clearing my website and browser caches but nothing changes.

This is the long image that’s in the div that I’m trying to have appear when you press the Pinterest share button: http://www.theorderexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/quotes_new_years_resolution_pin.jpg

If you go to this page http://www.theorderexpert.com/stick-new-years-resolution/ and look on the left-hand side, you should see a stack of social media share buttons. Click the top button for Pinterest, and a new window should open offering you a choice of images to pin to Pinterest. The above image is not available among that set of images.

The weird thing is that the long image is available to pin if I view the post on my site using the “Preview Changes” button for the post, and then press the Pinterest button in the preview.

I can’t get the image you linked to to open. Can you check that the url is correct?

Hmm, that’s odd…yes, the url is correct. I wonder why you are unable to see it?

It’s saying I don’t have permission to access the page. Try copying the url when you are logged out.

    Okay, try this one: http://www.theorderexpert.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/quotes_new_years_resolution_pin-90×300.jpg

BTW, when I looked at the source code, I noticed there is a whole bunch of lazy load code…do you think this issue I’m having is perhaps a problem with my caching plugin?

    hannah

    (@hannahritner)

Nope, that doesn’t work either. What caching plugin are you using?

    I’m using WP Rocket.

    hannah

    (@hannahritner)

Hmm, that plugin shouldn’t be giving you trouble. Have you tried contacting your host? It’s possible this is a permissions issue.

I contacted my host, and they said they were able to see the image just fine using the link.

I’m wondering if this is image problem is perhaps a plugin issue or something with Pinterest? Do you have any suggestions as to how to solve this issue?

    Hey,
So the theme wouldn’t have anyting to do with this. I would suggest talking with the pinterest plugin developer about there recomened way to add an image to the list to share on pinterest.

I can tell you that your getting 404 errors when trying to access that directly.

and that you also have these JS errors also due to plugins or ads:

Uncaught DOMException: Blocked a frame with origin "https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net" from accessing a cross-origin frame.(…)
    Uncaught TypeError: BannerFlow.feed.filter is not a function(…)
    Uncaught TypeError: BannerFlow.feed.filter is not a function(…)

I would suggest that you deactivate your plugins/and or ads one at a time.
