Support » Plugin: Ivory Search - WordPress Search Plugin » displays search box on load then changes to icon only

  • Resolved fooey

I see that another user had posted something similar. I am seeing the search box upon load of the site then it changes to just the icon which is what is supposed to be showing. I also noticed that we now have .5 second slower load speed. I know that the CSS is hiding the search box initially and once that css file loads, it hides the search box. We have WP Rocket installed and it is caching the files but still flashing the search box on load. Any recommendations to correct this “flashing” and also the load time issue? The site is up to date.
    Thank you!

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

The plugin loads CSS and JS files which take some milliseconds to load.

If you don’t want to load those files separately then please disable them in the plugin option Ivory Search -> Settings -> Settings -> Do Not Load Plugin Files and add the file code in your theme files.

After making the changes, please clear the cache that you are using on your site.

This will also resolve the search form displaying on load issue.

    Best regards,

Thanks for your reply. I have added the CSS code in the child theme and the load display issue was resolved. It did help with the speed issues as well but our concern is now that since part of the plug-in files are now outside of the plug-in, when there is an update to the plug-in, we will have to go into the child and replace the files there as well. We have this across several sites and that would be very cumbersome. Is there any plan to optimize this feature into the plugin?
Here are the test result averages for load time.
    Before Ivory Search Plugin 3.61
    After Ivory Search Plugin 4.46
After adding CSS in Child 3.86

    Thank you!

Sure, we will consider this to be optimized in the future version of the plugin.
