Displaying Users & Sorting w/ Custom User Fields

Hi all,

I’m wanting to create a listing page of users using the Users in a WP install. Users would have some custom fields added, locations and departments to name a couple. I’d like to create two pages that display the users according to their location, and then they’d be sorted on that page in groups by department.

The reason I want to use the Users and give everyone a log in is so that we can also have “away messages” for when they are away.

I’ve been toying around with a number of different pieces of code, but have gotten almost no where.

Anyone done anything similar or have some advice?
