Firstly – I’d like to say how brilliant your plugin is.

The only issue I’m having is displaying reviews using the [reviews_rating] shortcode in a pop-up window on our homepage.

For testing purposes, there is a small full-stop at the very bottom of our home page, which triggers the pop-up, but instead of the content it just displays the shortcode itself.

This only happens on our homepage – the same setup works fine everywhere else, i.e. on our product pages.

    Thanks in advance

    David

@dbrandon1984 This sounds like an issue outside of the plugin: the Shortcode is not being called within your popup. If Shortcodes aren’t running, they’ll appear just like you described.

Please check the other plugin or theme supports the running of the shortcode within the element.

    Hi there

    Thanks for the speedy response.

The shortcode displays correctly using the same method on every other page, except the homepage.

This suggests there is something about our homepage that is the issue.

I’ve conducted testing on a staging site, and it works fine there even on the homepage – I’m wondering if there are any XML/AJAX calls being made which might be getting picked up by our server security?

    Best

    @dbrandon1984 Sorry for the delay.

I am having a problem finding the problem… I cannot launch any popup with the reviews on the home page or elsewhere.

The running of the Shortcode itself is outside of the plugin’s control – the holding element (such as a PHP code for the template, HTML element, Raw Excerpt, Text, etc.) will either run Shortcodes within its content or not. It sounds like the Shortcode is not being run where this text is placed within your design.

Can you provide a specific example so I can replicate the issue?

@dbrandon1984 I did find the Shortcode in your home page’s source code, but there’s no visible popup here or elsewhere.

I recommend trying a different pop-up plugin or code to enclose this Shortcode. Clearly, there’s an issue interpreting the Shortcode’s text in some places and it should be consistent.

If it is handled by your theme, then try placing the Shortcode elsewhere in your page – the content of a popup can go almost anywhere because it will appear outside of the page’s flow. If it exists throughout the website, try placing it in the footer, perhaps using the native “Custom HTML” widget.

    Nice website btw. 🙂
