• Hey. Forgive me ahead of time if this has already been answered previously. I spent some time looking through the pages but didn’t see anything relating to it.

I just recently installed the multisite feature on my playground server to play around with it before using it on a current project I’m working on. Everything installed with ease. The only question I have is on the main page, I would like to display posts from another multisite on the main index page. Is there anyway to do this by altering the wordpress coding?

It would look like this basically…
http://mainsite.com and within the index of that I would like a column to display mainsite.com/blog/ and then another column on that same page to display mainsite.com/videos/

You could pull the RSS feeds of the other sites, put the feed in FeedWordPress or a similar plugin. From there you pick the option to re-publish, with a click on the title pointing the visitor back to the source, in this case mainsite.com/videos/permalink.

Okay, I’ll keep that in mind.

Here’s a visual example that I found that shows exactly what I would like to do.

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-sitewide-tags/ may help.

You’d import all the posts to your main site and then sort ’em by category or something.

@andrea_r is smarter about this than I am!

Is there some compelling reason you went with multisite and not just categories?

I chose multisite for many reasons to manage background sites that will be on this project…

    Just checking. 🙂

Yes, use sitewide tags, pick the main blog. make the theme show the posts from each blog in the columns you want. that would be as easy as if it were from categories on the main blog – cuz now you have all posts in the main blog. So do it like you would if it were a single blog.

Or do a switch_to_blog in each column, grab the posts and there ya go.

Okay great I will try this. Thank you!! : )
