# Displaying post tags outside loop

 * So I’ve been farting around with tags attached to my posts and I’m modifying 
   my layout so that it displays all that information on the side. However php the_tags
   only works when it’s inside the loop.
 * I did some searching and this [forum topic](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/135724?replies=10)
   had some code that worked for me, at least sort of.
 * It displays the tags in the sidebar, but they’re not clickable like the tags 
   inside the loop. Is there any way to add that functionality?
 * I’m no php expert so any help to nudge me along would be most welcome.
