[Resolved] Displaying language links – options not understood…

  • I’m not sure I fully understand all the options for styling the languages link. I have FR and EN installed.

    The links do show up, but they are all squished – no space between them.

    I noticed the options page has a number of options – “text before” “text after” – but no option to put a space “in between”. I tried inserting   in the form, but it did not do anything – and wordpress cleared that option, did not like

    Can someone post an example of the text or html they use to style the languages links on a post?

  • Aha – looks like I need to say “French ” and add a space myself in the Description field. That seems to have solved one problem.

    BTW, there is a missing word in my posting above – I had used non-breaking space name & nbsp; and it is not shown.

    I’m trying to get a nice formatted languages list – anyone have good examples? Need something in-between the languages – nothing at start and end.

    A space is not needed in most cases because CSS offers a much better solution. Look at this site for example! There are flags grouped as links in a div-container (ID language) and this short style-definition creates the spaces:

    #language a {
        margin-left: 5px;

    Is this problem resolved?

    I will mark it resolved, then will look into style files – I guess there must be a way to add to the .css files such that it can apply independent of theme chosen, and will not affect updates of both the plugin or the theme.

    Ah, maybe a good moment to begin with child-theme… 😉
