 * I have some VB code I want to display in a post. Tried the <pre> tag but this
   doesn’t seem to work. Did a search and found some info about backticks. Tried
   the backtick thing but it didn’t seem to work. So, some questions:
 * Just how does this backtick thing work? Is it a plugin? Does it work on blocks
   or is it only within a line?
 * Why does the <pre> tag not work? Is there a plan to support literal text in WP?
   What am I not understanding here?
 * Regards,
 * — mike

 * Backticks are just for this forum.
 * I encode html before pasting it into the editing area – works with posts and
   pages. My current encoder is this one:
    [http://www.inr.net/tools/html-encoder.cfm](http://www.inr.net/tools/html-encoder.cfm)

 * If you wish to post long code examples, it would be preferred if you could use
   [http://paste.uni.cc](http://paste.uni.cc) as a holding place for that code and
   then post the URL provided back here. Thanks!

 * Ok, I get the encoder thing. But why doesn’t the <pre> tag work?
 * Thanks for the link…

 * Likely because this forum does not allow the use of the `<pre>` tag.

 * Sorry for the misunderstanding. My question relates to WordPress, not this forum.
   What I found is even with the <pre> tags, Texturize wants to insert `<p>` tags
   in where it thinks paragraphs occurs. It also did not deal with ‘<>’ very well.
