Displaying blog samples on static home page

Hello, I’ve had a look around and couldn’t find any helpful support topics on this but if you know of one can you please point me in the right direction, thanks.

Heres where I’d appreciate help, I have a static home full of text and whatnot, my blog section is located at /blog, is there a fairly simple way i can set up an area on the homepage which automatically pulls the latest 5 or 6 entries and displays the title, first 20 words or so and the posted date?

Sorry if that wasn’t very well worded, to further show you what I’m talking about Ive set up how i’d like it to look on my homepage, however i’ve done this manually and would like to find a way of it updating automatically.
