I’m trying to get this widget working to show posts from the other blogs in my network. All of the sites I’m attempting to pull from are on the same install but use domain mapping for their own URLs. All of them are individually running Jetpack, which is connected to WordPress.com.

I’m able to get the widget to work for 4 sites, but the other 5 give me this error:

An error occurred while downloading blog information:
An error occurred fetching the remote data.

    Detailed information:
    Forbidden

Even though the sites are on the same theme with the same plugins, I’ve tried changing the theme and disabling the plugins, to no avail. I’ve tried disconnecting those sites from Jetpack and reconnecting. I’ve run the debug on each of them and got “Your Jetpack setup looks a-okay!” I’ve loaded the XMLRPC file on each and it shows the correct message (“XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.” on a line by itself).

For a specific example, the widget pulls from schoolofdoubt.com but not from madartlab.com.

Since all the sites are on the same install, they’re also all on the same server (at WPEngine). They also all have Cloudflare protection with the same settings.

I’ve searched through the forums here and elsewhere and I’m at the end of my rope. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

    not from madartlab.com.

It seems you didn’t activate Jetpack’s JSON API module on that site just yet. As a result, the Display Posts widget can’t pull posts from that site.
Could you try to go to Jetpack > Settings and activate the module? That should help!

@kimbotron I can’t seem to access your site at the moment, it’s hidden behind a maintenance plugin.

blog.decodingcreativity.com works well though, and the JSON API returns posts.

Could you try to install and activate a plugin like this one, and clear all Jetpack transients, before to add a new Display Posts widget? This should clear any bad cache that may cause issues on your site at the moment.

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi there,
I’ve got the same problem but I do have the JSON API setup. I added the transient manager and there was only one transient that was expired. I press delete but it doesn’t seem to do anything…

    any ideas?
