    Is it possible to display a few upcoming events on the home page?

    use the widget ‘upcoming events’

    Ah, I see that widget now – thank you! Does it have to be used in a sidebar? I’m not using sidebars on my home page. I was hoping to show them in their own section like you see on a site that displays a horizontal strip of the latest blog posts.

    Widgets can be used in an widgeted region, but that depends on where your theme places widget regions.

    You can also use the shortcodes to render upcoming events; see those documented on the Help screen.
