Support » Networking WordPress » Display Problems in Internet Explorer

  • I had help with an unrelated problem through these forums a few days ago (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/cannot-access-network-admin?replies=16) and that problem was eventually resolved, I then went on to ‘Update Network’ through the ‘Network Admin’ page and since I completed that I’ve had problems viewing the menu on my home page through Internet Explorer.

I have no idea if this issue is related in any way to the other problem I posted a few days ago, but this issue only began once the last problem was fixed and after I completed an Update Network task.

If you view my website (http://www.myblogportal.co.uk) through Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome and Firefox, you should see that home page displays fine in every browser except Internet Explorer – the top menu bar text has vanished altogether in IE, although if you hover the mouse over parts of the menu-bar, you can display the submenu-bar in certain places.

I have no idea what has caused this or indeed what I can do to fix it and if anyone has any suggestions, I really would be most grateful.

    Thank you in advance
    Wayne

It’s Internet Explorer unfortunately. What version are you running?

    Hi Andrea,
I’ve running Internet Explorer version 9.0.8112.16421

Is there any reason why IE would be causing this problem, the issue didn’t appear until I resolved the last problem as outlined in my post above, and I completed the Network Update task.

I’m tempted to think there may be a relationship with my original problem and this one now, but I really have no idea and any suggestions you can offer to remedy this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Wayne

It looks fine for me on IE 8 but the answer to that is ‘It’s internet explorer and it’s a POS.’

Hi again Ipstenu, what do you mean by “it’s a POS”?

Piece of Sh*t. IE follows their own rules.

I can’t think of why changing WordPress would do that, unless you also upgraded a plugin and your javascript info as well. I’d start by turning off plugins. Maybe one of them conflicts with WP 3.1.2

Then that sounds like it;s there but the wrong color.

I don’t know, I’ve almost given up on this .. I turned all the plugins off and still the problem was there. I don’t think it can be related to a colour issue Andrea otherwise I would experience the same problem when viewing the site with other web browsers.

I’m scratching my head wondering what to try next !!

IE does do some straaaaange things…. you did say they were invisible until you hovered over them.
