Support » Fixing WordPress » Display parent menu items only

  • Hi- I am currently finishing up building my site offline but before uploading there is a couple of small issues I need to sort out.

One of the biggest problems is that I want to limit the navigation menu items displayed at the top of the page (well, in the nav bar below the header image) to parent items only. At present, links to child pages are displayed on hover over.

Is this at all possible? I am using the Admired theme and WordPress 3.4.2.

    Thank you.

You may need to create a Child Theme for this modification.

Then look at using the wp_nav_menu function, focusing on 'depth'

I have nothing in the appearance – menus location. The menu in question is basically automatically generated for all parent pages and placed across the top of the page but below the header.

I have looked for wp_nav_menu but can not find this document.

The theme description says it uses Superfish menus, so they may be set up differently from the standard WP??

I got around it by just creating a custom menu to override the automatically generated one. That seems to have worked.

    Thanks for the replies.
