Support » Plugin: Testimonials Widget » Display on page without widget

  • Resolved nourishedhealth

    I apologize if I am making a stupid mistake and wasting your time with this question–I’m very much a newbie.

    I would like to rotate testimonials on a page without a widget. This is what I am using: [testimonialswidget_widget category=Cleanse/Detox=asc]

    The testimonials aren’t rotating–it’s just the list and it is pulling from all categories.

    I checked and wp_footer();
    ?> is before the body tag in the footer

    I installed “Use Google Libraries” as a plugin so I don’t have JQuery from both your plugin and the theme.

    What else can I do? Thanks so much for your help. Here is the page its on:

    the shortcode usage and how to use the parameters is described in (scroll down)

    are those two different categories ‘cleanse’ and ‘detox’?

    do you want ot sort ASCending by ID?

    then the shortcode should possibly look like:

    [testimonialswidget_widget category="cleanse,detox" order=asc]

    Thanks for the speedy reply! Cleanse/Detox is one category, so I thought maybe the slash was causing a problem. I changed the category to vitalitycleanse and input it back in what I had initially tried and still no go. I don’t care about the order, actually, I just cut and pasted from shortcode usage parameters on that page since it wasn’t working for me. When I put the new category into the shortcode you sent above and removed the order it completely changed the margins of my website–very strange. I’ve tried both these but neither are rotating testimonials and both are using all testimonials instead of just the 1 category. And now the margins are expanded:
    [testimonialswidget_widget category=”vitalitycleanse” order=asc]
    [testimonialswidget_widget category=vitalitycleanse]

    Thanks so much for your help.

    Oh I see, that’s strange. Using the new shortcode, it expanded the margins to show the longest testimonial all on 1 line.

    your theme does not seem to call any stylesheets or scripts;

    what happens if you temporarily switch to the default Twenty Eleven theme?
    do the testimonials work then?

    That did work! Unfortunately, I’m not willing to change themes as this theme does most of what I need (other than the testimonials!). Thanks for following-up and figuring it out. Much appreciated. The support for this plug-in is really amazing.

    this was just troubleshooting, to see ifthe plugn is actualy working properly.

    now you know the incompatibility is caused by your theme, you could try – depending where you got the theme from and if you have an unedited copy – possibly to use a header.php from a new copy of the theme.

    first step:

    make sure to have <?php wp_head(); ?> in header.php just before </head>

    @alchymyth Thank you for stepping in and helping with the troubleshooting.

    @nourishedhealth What’s the URL to your website with the troubles?

    Thanks so much @alchymyth for all of your help!

    So it turns out its not the theme I’m using but the Squeeze Page Generator plug-in, WP Opt-ins. The testimonials will work in rotation on any of my normal pages, but not the squeeze page.

    @michael The address of the squeezepage is:

    Thanks for any ideas you have. I like the squeezepage template, because it gets rid of the menus, but maybe I need to figure out how to do that without the squeezepage widget so that I can get the testimonials to work?

    @nourishedhealth, ah silly question, the quotes underneath “What People Are Saying” are HTML, not Testimonials Widget based. Is that what the problem is?

    Basically, I’m not seeing any Testimonials Widget plugin based code at all on

    Can you please point me to the URL of the squeezepage template or plugin? I’d like to review it.

    @michael, sorry I had removed the testimonials shortcode while I wasn’t working on it since it wasn’t rotating.

    I just added back in the short code: [testimonialswidget_widget category=vitalitycleanse] under the “What People Are Saying” Section. I would like it to rotate, if possible. It’s at:

    Thanks for looking into this–much appreciated!

    The problem is that your theme or plugin is loading any of the CSS or JavaScript as necessary. See FAQ 20 for the wp_footer issue. Then I’m guessing that a like wp_header is missing from your theme’s header.php file.

    If you can get those in, then you’re closer to completion.

    @michael Thanks so much for your speedy help! I’ll work on fixing that. Appreciated.
