Support » Networking WordPress » Display Name doesn’t work correctly in WP 3.0 Multisite?

I have an issue that I can’t seem to squash – and I was wondering if anyone else has run into this.

In my new WP3.0 Multi-Site installation the “Comment Author” only shows up as a username.

When you use “the_author()” it shows up fine, but when using “get_comment_author_link()” registered users are only showing the username, not the display name.

I’ve used the exact comment code that is generating this issue on a WP3.0 single-site installation and it does not have this problem.

    Any thoughts?

Bah… I think I figured out the issue. Whatever display name you’re using at the time that you submit a comment sticks to the comment forever – if you change your display name later then NEW comments will use the new display name but old ones stay the same.

Is there any way to change this behavior, or is this permanently baked in?

    Are you also using BuddyPress?

    Same theme?
Is this on the main site or sub-site or does it not matter?
