Support » Plugin: PayPal for WooCommerce » “display in general list” not working

  • Hello,

When I select ‘display in general list’, the paypal express checkout option doesn’t appear on the checkout page even though I enabled smart button.

‘display at the top of the checkout page’ appears when I select it but I’d like the option visible in the general list…

    I’m using storefront theme..

Please let me know how to resolve the issue..

    thanks!

We’re sorry that you’re having trouble – I think that we can help. There appears to be a conflict between the plugins and/or themes that you have installed, as we’ve not received reports of this issue from other users/customers. Additionally, we attempted to reproduce this issue using our testing environment and things are working as expected. Please try the following debug steps:

    1. Disable all plugins with the exception of WooCommerce and PayPal for WooCommerce, and determine whether or not the issue is still occurring
    2. Re-enable additional plugins one by one, testing after each add-on is enabled, in order to find the culprit

If, after disabling all additional plugins, you are still seeing the same issue, then switch to basic twenty theme with both WooCommerce and PayPal for WooCommerce enabled and then check once again.

Please follow these steps and let us know your results.

    Thank you!

    Hello,
I found, disabled the conflicted plugin and I see the express option in general list. But when I click the option I see these errors:

When it displayed at the top of the page it works

how can I resolve this issue?

    thank you

The error simply means that there is some error with your entered shipping/ billing address like the city name or state or the postal code. I also see that you entered LA shortkey for Los Angeles. Please try the full form then give it another shot. Also double check the postal code is correct and you will not see any such errors.

I believe the paypal express checkout is supposed to direct to paypal login page without requiring shipping/billing information entered in the website.

When it’s configured to display at the top of the checkout page, it directly takes me to paypal login page even without filling out the form on the checkout page… Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

@benfrankie, in your videos you are using the Woo checkout page, where you’ve filled in Billing/Shipping details. When this page is used, those values are passed to PayPal, and apparently something is wrong with the address being passed in this case.

If you use the PayPal button from the product page, cart page, or top of the checkout page (so you never filled out any forms) then it wouldn’t pass any data and this wouldn’t happen.

Again, though, it seems that address must simply be incorrect somehow..??

So to clarify, I wanted to add Paypal EXPRESS checkout option in/near the list which wouldn’t require any data either correct or incorrect, and would just populate a paypal login window/page. Will this be possible? If so, how?…

    thank you!

Sorry, but no. The general list is intended to be used with the Woo checkout forms, and those forms would need to be filled out in order to use the PayPal option there. That’s why it gives you the option to display the PayPal button in plenty of other places, though, so that people who want to skip the checkout page and forms can do so.

I see. then is there a way to display it at the bottom of the checkout page or below the general list as just as a paypal express button which are not dependent on checkout the form, not a full width bar like the current display?
If so, please let me know how…
    Thanks!

@benfrankie for now, if those Express Checkout buttons will only show at the top of the checkout page then they wont display on the general List ( We have those settings in the Express Checkout settings page ). We dont have any such settings built to show them below the checkout page, though. Another thing to stop the user from form filling is that if you Express Checkout is the only Payment option enabled and you have that enabled at product and cart page as well then they can simply check out from those pages.
