Display Category List by event date using website template

Hi,

I love this plugin. It does everything I need it to do without any issues, but there are some more advanced things I just can’t quite grasp. I’ve been able to remove end times and customize my widget to my liking, but this one I can’t seem to get.

On my website, I would like the events category listing to look like the format it produces from the native template and not the event organizer one. However the events do not show up in order of event date. Right now its some sort of random thing I can’t understand. It produces events out of order and not even by published date. The event organizer template produces them in event order, but does not look the way I want it.

Basically, I would love to have two columns of events down the page like this:

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to combine the two to get that result.

Any help would be appreciated. I’m sure it’s an easy fix I’m just not seeing.
