Support » Fixing WordPress » Display blog archive pages in groups by year

  • I am the owner of a long-running Web site, The Schumin Web, and am trying to convert the whole thing to WordPress. In converting, I am trying to make the new site under WordPress look more or less identical to the existing site, which was built in Dreamweaver using PHP and CSS. I have the site looking and feeling like Schumin Web for the most part, but after searching around Google for hours, I’m coming up blank on how to make the blog archive menu look the way I want it to look.

The way I list blog archives (“Journal entries”) on my existing non-WordPress site is on the sidebar:

Note the “Journal entries from [year]” headers and then the months beneath. Considering that my Journal has been around for eight years, a long, continuous list of archives by month seems like too much to display as a single unit. Thus I want to reproduce my existing Journal sidebar under WordPress, where the pages for each year are under a year header.

    Any ideas?
