  • Someone i know running MT is thinking of switching to WP and was wondering if there would be any advantages regarding the amount of disk space used.
Any ideas or links to people who have done such comparisons with the same number of blog entries?
Ofcourse one would have to do not only a comparison of the individual blog entries in the SQL DB but also the base installation size.
I’m trying to convince them to move over to WP and was just wondering if disk space is an issue or not… 🙂

  • Disk Space is a BIG ISSUE…

Well it would be when you are a serial blogger 🙂

I not only saved a ton of space, but my bandwidth consumption has dropped considerably despite my average daily hits rising from 800 to 1,000 or so. I’m a happy camper. Yes, indeed.

wp does not write static archive pages and your posts in the database won’t take as much space as a static page. so yes, there is significantly less space used (e.g.: i have to blogs with currently about 300 entries each, that makes 600 individual pages plus the archives for each month and category, all together some mbs; the entry section of the database is currently about 250kb (!) each)
