  • Months ago, I purchased a Themeum product, realized I’d made a mistake without ever installing it, within 10 days. They post prominently a “100% Risk-Free Customer-Friendly Money Back Guarantee” — but they refused. I fought it and did finally receive a refund.

    Now, months after the refund was resolved, without any contact from us, Themeum has placed a new charge of $149 on my client’s credit card. The credit card company says that it appears to have been an attempt to put a RECURRING charge on the card! We have contacted the authorities, blocked Themeum as a vendor, and will update this review if/when our money is returned and no more fraudulent charges appear.

    These financial issues were not the only unprofessional part of dealing with these people. Email responses were very slow, brief, hard to understand because written poorly without punctuation or capitalization, etc., and generally felt uncooperative. I have been involved with WordPress products for about 8 years now, and this is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced.

    Thanks for posting this, and sorry to hear about your troubles which sounds crazy!

    I was considering StartupIdea theme from them. But I guess that won’t happen then as it seems not worth it and a waste of money.

    You’re welcome, @angrywarrior. The worst thing has been how it embarrassed me and made me look unreliable in front of a very important client. I’m lucky I didn’t lose the job. The fraudulent charge appeared to be direct retaliation to me posting a negative review here, kind of scary actually.

    That is much understandable!
    Unfortunately there is a of dishonest people out there attempting to pray on people.

    That sentence is a scary one.
    That should come like second nature to give refund back without questions and discussions as it is part of giving good customer service and should not be part of a “try” eg. effort to make customers feel better about bad customer handling.

    Well you lost me as potential customer for sure.

    For Fahid, and anyone else concerned:

    1. Themeum advertised a “30-Day 100% Risk-Free Customer-Friendly Money Back Guarantee” (I have a screenshot.)
    2. I politely asked for a refund within about 10 days.
    3. Themeum refuses to provide the refund. (I have all of these emails.)
    4. I fought it, and several days later, they did provide a refund.
    5. About a month later, a brand-new, FRAUDULENT charge for $149 appeared on my client’s credit card bill.
    6. My client was forced to contact her credit card company and put a SPECIFIC BLOCK AGAINST THEMEUM so that they cannot make further fraudulent charges.
    7. No one from Themeum ever apologized for, or even acknowledged, (1) initially refusing the publicly-promised refund or (2) making the completely FRAUDULENT charge a month later.
    8. Themeum people have repeated asked me to change the review – see above – even CALLING MY PHONE and leaving messages!
    9. The facts I have provided in this review are entirely accurate. If anything further happens which it would be appropriate to report here, I will add additional information.
