Support » Plugin: All In One WP Security & Firewall » Discussion on integrating WP management plugins for login

  • Alrighty, so still working through the trials before I write the big review on the All In One WP Security & Firewall plugin.

So the next question that’s hit my review-this list:
    Login via management plugins (works/no-works)

Various plugins, like InfiniteWP and ManageWP, allow one to establish backend connections to site for updating plugins and the like.

I have a suspicion the Basic Firewall Rules and Brute Force Prevention options may not work with like plugins.

Can you comment on this please, in particular whether you’ve run any tests with any of the management plugins, or have thoughts on this budding question?

    Thanks!

I am not 100% sure on the basic firewall one but the brute force prevention feature definitely won’t work with it. The whole purpose of our bruteforce feature is to ensure that a HUMAN being (the site admin) is only allowed to access the login page/form. So if you are using a service that needs to log into your admin then you can’t use the cookie based bruteforce feature in the plguin. You can try our new bruteforce feature that we added in the last version (that one should work fine as it doesn’t require cookie or anything).

I was actually surprised the basic firewall did not work as well. According to the “things” the basic firewall states it locks down, it should work, but doesn’t in my tests.

I guess I just need to dig deeper and figure out what rewrite rules, etc. you are using for the basic firewall setting, then report back as to what works or not works.

Can you be more specific about what exactly doesn’t work for you?

Yes, I have confirmed that WP management plugins do appear to work OK, as long as the following are not enabled:
    – Rename Login Page
    – Brute Force Prevention Firewall Settings are fully disabled
