Is anybody able to shed light on the above, please?
Thanks.

Hi @shieldfactory! Thanks for reaching out!
We’d like to run a campaign/discount on a bundle of our products – say, one cap, one hoodie and one t-shirt of some specific product from the product categories in our shop.
I understand that you want a coupon that can only be applied when a group of selected products are in the cart.
Does the “or that need to be in the cart in order for the fixed or percentage discount to be applied” part indicate the possibility of adding those three items in that input box under a given coupon which in turn means, that first after the customer has added all of those three items that make up the discounted bundle to the shopping cart, the discount will appear and be automatically applied to the final price?
It means that the coupon will be applied when at least one of those three items is in the cart. If you need more advanced conditions than that, you’ll probably need a plugin that extends the built-in coupon settings.
Here you can find a similar question in the forums with some possible solutions https://wordpress.org/support/topic/validate-coupon-against-multiple-products-in-cart/
I hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Hi @shieldfactory
Thanks for reaching out!
As mentioned above, in regards to your question, the “Products” field under the coupon settings allows you to specify which products the coupon will apply to. If you enter multiple products in this field, the discount will only be applied when all of these products are in the cart. This means that if a customer adds the cap, hoodie, and t-shirt to their cart, the discount will be automatically applied to their order.
However, please note that this feature doesn’t provide a way to bundle products together, so each product needs to be added to the cart individually. The discount is just conditioned on all specified products being in the cart.
If you’re looking for a feature that allows you to sell products as a pre-made bundle at a discounted price, you might need to use a plugin like Product Bundles or Composite Products. While there is a cost associated with these plugins, they provide more advanced bundling features that may be necessary for your business.
Hope this helps and please let us know if we can be of any further assistance! We’re always happy to help.
Hi @xue28 and thanks for your reply.
Thanks for your respons and a big fat apology for the delay in reply – once again – but we were so busy right before and after the holidays, that this slipped our mind. Sorry about that.
Thanks also for the clarification and explanation on the behavior of the coupons regarding the products required before any given discount is handed to the customer and subsequently visible in the shopping cart at checkout.
Furthermore, we looked at the plugins you linked to but as you also pointed out, there is a substantial cost involved with acquiring these plugins and at the present, we are just looking for something which is either free or comes at a much lower, reasonable price.
Could you possibly recommend us one of the many other free plugins, that are available on the WordPress plugin site and which do a similar job?
We highly appreciate the time you took to help us out in this matter and thank you once again.
Hi @albarin and also here a big fat thanksfor your time and help.
We understand via your response, that only one item in the cart will already trigger the coupon discount. However, @xue28 response in this thread indicated otherwise.
“If you enter multiple products in this field, the discount will only be applied when all of these products are in the cart. This means that if a customer adds the cap, hoodie, and t-shirt to their cart, the discount will be automatically applied to their order.“
So, we would assume, that adding all three product items in the cart will first trigger the coupon discount, correct?
Thanks also for the link to the other thread. We’re checking up on that in the near future and see if we can gain some more information on what the options are in terms of coupon/discount plugins for WordPress.
Thanks also to you once again for your kind help.
