Support » Plugin: Wordfence Security - Firewall & Malware Scan » Disconnect this site from Central (issue for cloned sites)

I am a web designer and often clone a site as a base for a new one.

When you clone a site, obviously the WordFence settings are also cloned. So you have two sites with a different url pointing to the same entry in Central. Meaning, after cloning I need to disconnect the cloned site and reconnect it again.

Problem is, that when I disconnect the cloned site, it removes the entry of the original site from Central. At that point
    – The cloned site indicates it’s disconnected
    – The original site still indicated it is connected
    – In reality there is no entry in Central for either one of them

So now you also need to disconnect the orginal site and reconnect it again.

I think that when you disconnect a site from Central, it needs to validate by it’s url if it exists in Central. If it isn’t there, just disconnect without removing the entry from Central.

    Thanks
    JP

    Hey @jpnl,

The developers mentioned that currently, this is the best workflow. However, they’re discussing better ways to handle this in the future. I don’t have a timeline on when/if it’ll be implemented, but we’ve saved this thread so we can update you with any movement.

Please let us know if anything else comes up.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
