• This was so close to what I wanted, but ended up being so frustratingly buggy on important navigation tasks and image display.

Between random navigation bugs that jump back to the start of a gallery instead of the next image, to scaling issues on initial open of a gallery, and finally to a critical e-commerce bug that never sent a customer order through, resulting in an order that was never forwarded to me for fulfillment despite the client thinking they had been charged, NextGen and Photocrati have been a nightmare for me. It was so close to what I wanted for a photography website template, but even after a year working with their customer support reporting and confirming issue after issue with them, they were unable to fix ANY of the critical code issues. The recurring response was just that while they were able to recreate my issues, they only seem to affect a minority of users and are in the queue for issue resolution. That was fine for a few weeks, then months… but not over a year.

So frustrating and a giant waste of time. In their defense, I was finally refunded my purchase price, but after the countless hours wasted it didn’t ease the pain much. I didn’t want my money back, I wanted a reliable site without major image display issues.

  • @arthughesphoto – Sorry to read this. Sounds like you had some bumps. Based on your experience, seems like the review in your case was warranted.

I did want to clarify – from past topics you’ve posted it seems like you were using NGG as long a 4 years ago. Did you go away and just come back, or were you using it for that long, and just had problems more recently?

For others who may read this, the experience here is obviously not typical or common as you can see from other reviews. I’m assuming something was just not agreeing between NGG and this users hosting environment or WordPress set up. That’s not to diminish this user’s experience. As stable as NGG is, it can be hard to keep it perfectly stable in each of hundreds of thousands of environments none of which we control. That’s a challenge for all popular plugins.

Again, thanks for taking the time to share the feedback.
