• Disappointed with my recent experience with @LinkWhisper.

I renewed my paid subscription and immediately encountered a license activation issue.

    What I have verified:

✅ Fresh installation from the official download portal
    ✅ License key entered correctly
    ✅ WordPress functioning normally
✅ Server can access Google, WordPress.org, Rank Math, and other external services
✅ Multiple browsers and cache clears tested

However, Link Whisper activation consistently fails with:

    ❌ License Error
    ❌ Cloudflare Error 520
    ❌ Plugin becomes unusable

    Server tests show:

    • google.com → OK
    • api.wordpress.org → OK
    • rankmath.com → OK
    • linkwhisper.com → Error 520

I contacted support and was only asked to “try again.” The issue still persists.

At this point I have a paid product that cannot be activated or used.

Can someone from @LinkWhisper please explain:

    1. Why their licensing system returns Cloudflare 520?
    2. Why the plugin crashes when the license server response is null?
    3. Why a refund request is being refused for an unusable product?

    Hey @tflbearing,

Thank you for your detailed questions. As you haven’t responded to our communications in support, I’ll answer you here, but please be aware that we’re more than happy to continue the conversation in the support channel anytime that you’re ready.

On the license side, we have run multiple tests, and have validated tens of thousands of license keys with the system without issue since your ticket was opened, so the system is working generally. In cases like this, the problem is either a temporary service issue that’s resolved by waiting a bit, or is actually related to a deeper issue from the connecting site. And the protocol for addressing this is to ask the user to try again later, and if that doesn’t work, request site access so we can investigate.

When the license checks fail, the plugin itself does not crash. What happens is the pages that are only accessible when the license is activated are not listed inside the WordPress admin. When you try to access any of these pages, WordPress shows you the default “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” error because as far as it’s concerned, the page doesn’t exist. The message is a bit of a catch all because it doesn’t exactly know if the page is permission locked or gone.

And on the refund front, we’re still working through the issue with you. As you’d indicated in the ticket, you were willing to work through it with us to try and get this resolved, and we’d like the opportunity to get everything sorted for you.

    Warm regards,
    Matt
