# Disappearing posts

 * Strange problem. Came across an old blog posts with 500+ spam comments on it (
   I am using Akismet and Intense Debate plugins). I logged into my site, went to
   the post and began manually deleting the spam comments from the post editing 
   page. I deleted a dozen or so when the screen froze. I clicked the All Posts 
   link and – horror – every post was gone. No Posts Found.
 * Ack. No posts (I had close to 200 published posts plus a dozen or so in draft)
 * Also, every comment, gone.
 * And – if I try to add a new post, I do not get a publish button, but instead 
   a Submit for Review button. Curious.
 * Now, could very well be I’ve hit some sort of db corruption, so I am going to
   look deeper into this. And (whew) I do have a backup. But before I restore, I
   want to dig around & find out what’s going on and see if this type of behavior
   has happened to anyone else.
 * This blog is old – been running WordPress since 2005 or so, but hasn’t had a 
   significant hiccup in all the years. And, being that it is a Dad blog with my
   memories of my kids on it, I’m trying hard to recover my memories (here’s hoping
   the backup works).

 * Yep, that’s what it was.

 * Posts table went poof. A repair of the table in PHPMyAdmin and all is good again
   with the world.
