Disappearing Images in Media Library

I went to assign ‘Featured Image’ to all of my blog posts and most of my images are gone from the media library, but they’re still in the post.

When clicking on the image, under ‘edit’ so I can at least get the name of the image so I can find it again on my computer, the image name and any data is gone as well.

I’ve checked the image files in the hosting server and don’t see many there either but did not look for them all.

No, I did not change servers recently.

All I can think of is that I recently exported many posts in order to import them into another WordPress blog.

Any suggestions on how to re-populate the media library with my images?
