disabling search

  • Hi, how do I disable search for my WP? I want to completely disable the search engine for visitors.

  • For example, if you are using the WordPress default theme, you would delete the code

    <?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/searchform.php'); ?>

    from your wp-content/themes/default/sidebar.php script.

    thanks. that took care of the search box. But I was looking for a script that would disable search for visitors completely.

    for ex: when you attach ‘?s=orange’ to the url of wordpress’s main page, you’ll get all the posts that has ‘orange’ in it. I want to disable search for the entire site.

    Is there anyway I could go in and replace the string s (s is for search i presume) with another alphabet, like l? so the search engine can be semi-private?

    Thanks for your help!
