[Resolved] Disabling Dropdowns in TwentyTen

  • Hey – this is a strange one, I know… but hear me out…

    I’d like to disable drop-down menus on my child theme of WordPress Twenty Ten.
    I understand the appearance > menus system, and how to add and remove items from here – but that’s not the solution I need.

    I need the menu bar item to stay selected when viewing child pages, but the child pages to not appear in the navigation bar.

    I hope this kind-of makes sense.
    The website is http://www.hongam.co.uk and the page I am talking about is Portfolio.
    I am looking for “portfolio” in the top navigation bar to remain selected, even when I am on seperate child pages. The only way I know to do that is to make them child’s in appearance > menus and then disable to dropdowns somehow.

    Help. Please let me know if this doesn’t make sense!!
    Thanks in advance 🙂

    @paulwp

    Font hero

    The site is not viewable.

    But anyway, Twentyten already highlights parent menu item when the current page is its child. You can see it in the demo here
    http://wp-themes.com/twentyten/?page_id=49

    pageid=49 is a child item, when it’s currently being viewed, its parent is highlighted.

    To disable dropdown behavior, use this (in child theme’s style.css)

    #access ul li:hover > ul {display:none;}

    Ah – you’re a genius.
    Worked a treat. Thanks for the fast response! 🙂
