    Hey - this is a strange one, I know... but hear me out...

    I'd like to disable drop-down menus on my child theme of WordPress Twenty Ten.
    I understand the appearance > menus system, and how to add and remove items from here - but that's not the solution I need.

    I need the menu bar item to stay selected when viewing child pages, but the child pages to not appear in the navigation bar.

    I hope this kind-of makes sense.
    The website is http://www.hongam.co.uk and the page I am talking about is Portfolio.
    I am looking for "portfolio" in the top navigation bar to remain selected, even when I am on seperate child pages. The only way I know to do that is to make them child's in appearance > menus and then disable to dropdowns somehow.

    Help. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense!!
    Thanks in advance :)

    The site is not viewable.

    But anyway, Twentyten already highlights parent menu item when the current page is its child. You can see it in the demo here

    pageid=49 is a child item, when it's currently being viewed, its parent is highlighted.

    To disable dropdown behavior, use this (in child theme's style.css)

    #access ul li:hover > ul {display:none;}
