• Can “User Role Editor” be disabled when I am not making changes to role permissions?

In other words, does it need to be enabled all the time, for the role permissions to be enforced correctly?

I have a lot of plug-ins. If I can turn some of them OFF, when I am not making changes to specific settings, then my site loads faster and works better.

All changes made to the roles are applied directly to the database. So you can deactivate URE. Changes will still be there.

Just remember, that it’s better to have the URE active in case you allow other users except ‘administrator’ to edit users, as URE protects users with ‘administrator’ role from other users who allowed to edit users and revoke roles from them.
