Support » Plugin: AceIDE » Disable single clicking on file to unzip

Just ran into an issue where I zipped up my plugins folder to migrate to another site and I accidentally clicked on the file which immediately begins the unzip process which as you can imagine took a while and basically killed my site until it completed.

Just thinking it might be better to disable the single left click unzip and just force everyone to use the right-click context menu and the choose the unzip option…much safer.

And yes, for the record I realize this is a “ME” problem and not the s/w but I can see others accidentally doing this as well.

Hmm this definitely is a usability issue. Maybe it would be best to guard zip and unzip operations with a confirmation, including the context menu.

Thanks for all your tips and contributions so far, they are greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Philip,

I have added the confirmation to the zip/unzip operations to ensure that a user does in fact want to perform said operation.

As a slight side-note, currently the single click operation is actually to open it in the editor – which is still some remaining (undesirable) behaviour from WPide. This will, of course, have to be resolved with unzipping being the preferred behaviour. However, that will require a small rewrite of how the filetree is initialised so I have left that until next release.

    Thanks again,
    Shane
