[resolved] disable sidebar in handheld only (5 posts)

For me, the sidebar works beautifully in tablet and desktop resolutions, but starts to be impractical in smartphones in portrait.

Is there a way to disable sidebar for anything below a certain resolution width?

Or, as an alternative, on narrow screen resolution widths, the sidebar width would be say 90% instead of 20% or so.

Why is the sidebar "impractical" on small screens?

Because it's only popping out 19%, which on a small phone screen means you see about 10% of the sidebar :)

I cannot remember the default, but I've trimmed it down to make the tablet layout best.

If could set the width differently for handheld, I would make it pop out over most of the screen, i.e. 90%.

Apologies Scott - I can see that you designed this theme to be totally responsive and my comment was probably nonsensical.

I had set overflow-y: auto for .sidebar for some reason in the distant past and this was stopping the sidebar from being properly responsive. I don't see any reason to keep this, so I dropped it and it's behaving wonderfully, as you originally designed it to. :)

Excellent! Yes, the sidebar should change size and cover most of a small device's screen and only a fraction of a large screen. Have a good day.
