 * Hello,
 * I do support for many WordPress websites and I get tons of emails that plugin
   updates are available. I searched how can I disable these alerts but couldn’t
   find anything. I ran into some posts, for example: a 2 yars old one [https://wordpress.org/support/topic/feature-request-disable-update-notifications](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/feature-request-disable-update-notifications).
 * This feature, has it been implemented ? If yes, how can I disable this kind of
   notifications ?
 * I see on the options page: Alert on critical problems. Is this option only for
   updates or it is used also for other critical problems ?
 * Thanks.

 * Currently, those are the only toggles for warnings. Try turning off “Alert on
   Warnings.” That should take care of plugins.
 * Let me know if that helps or not.
 * Thanks!

 * [@wfbrian](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfbrian/), Well, notiffications
   are on only for “Alert on critical problems”. In the issues report, plugin updates
   have the severity “Critical”, so I should disable “Alert on critical problems”.
   But I think that there are notoffication for other critical problems, so I don’t
   think it’s a good idea to turn it off.
 * Isn’t it possible to make a checkbox for updates also ? Or mayby a possibility
   to select if the updates are critical or should be treated as warnings ?

 * Seeing as one of the most common attack vectors is outdated plugins and themes
   we wouldn’t want to do that. You might as well run with no security if you do
   that.

 * So, there isn’t any method to disable email notifications for plugin updates.
 * Well, I’m a bit disappointed 🙁

 * We’d rather you didn’t get hacked and then wonder why you did. You can disable
   the alerts, as Brian mentioned, if you want but not updating is a major critical
   problem.

 * Dear WFSupport
 * First – thanks for a great plugin!
 * I think that you should give us the customers, the options to decide whether
   we get notify for those annoying out-of-date plugins or not.
    We decide = we
   take the responsibility, you can mark a big red warning sign near this setup
   checkbox and we will understand and check ‘V’ that we go to hell and won’t blame
   you for troubles later on 🙂
 * More than this – some users doesn’t want to plugins update because of compatibility
   issues.
    Some use MainWP to handle this.
 * Please make a great plugin even more great by letting us choose.
 * Cheers
    Tal

 * [@taco100](https://wordpress.org/support/users/taco100/): If you feel certain
   that you won’t miss any plugin or core updates, since you’re managing them in
   another way, you can disable “Scan for out of date plugins, themes and WordPress
   versions” on the Wordfence options page, to stop the scanner from even checking—
   this should stop the emails, but the items won’t appear in the scan results if
   you check them manually, either.
 * It sounds like you understand the risks — but for anyone else reading this post,
   be very careful about choosing to run outdated plugins/themes (or an old version
   of WordPress), even for compatibility reasons. Old versions are one of the most
   common causes of hacks.

 * Thank U for the solution WFMattR
 * I do want to see those issues on the periodical reports, and also inside the
   WP admin area, just not to get notified so much (I manage ~20 websites…)
    Hope
   you’ll this feature in the future (uncheck email alerts to plugins only).
 * Thanks again!!

 * [@wfmattr](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfmattr/),
 * We also manage a lot of WordPress sites (> 30, growing). We get a lot of notifications.
   About the outdated plugins, and I set a filter in my mail account to archive
   such mails 🙁
 * The option will be great with a warning, because we do the updates regularly
   and the “spam” is big. An I don’t want to turn off the scaner because we visit
   the sites and look at the scan results.
 * I hope you will change your mind and will add such an option.

 * Ok, that makes sense. I’ve added this post to a similar request we have, and
   it may be included in a future version. I can’t say how long it may take or what
   version it will be in, but I think there’s a good chance this will be added.
   The reference number for this request is FB784. Thank you both for your input!

 * Thanks for considering this option.
    I too manage quite a few sites and have
   automatic updates enabled for all plugins, more often than not the plugin is
   already updated when I visit the WordPress site, so this notification is just
   adding to the noise.

 * I would like to add my vote for this option. I use MainWP to manage my multiple
   WordPress sites and make it a habit to regularly update all plugins, themes,
   and WP version so I would prefer not to receive the regular email alerts.

 * [@wfmattr](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfmattr/), is there a possibility
   to check the progress on the ticket FB784 ?
