 * I just installed wordpress and I am getting a cgi error. I would like to turn
   off permalinks as this seems to be the problem with my server.
 * How do I turn off/disable permalinks??

 * In the dashboard, go to Settings / Permalinks
 * Select “Default” and then click the Save Changes button

 * Yea that doesn’t work for me. Unfortunately my servers don’t work with 2.6.
 * After talking with customer service 2.2 is what I needed to use. Sure its got
   less features ect.. but it is running smooth.
