Hi there,
Is your site using the mobile theme from Jetpack?
https://jetpack.com/support/mobile-theme/
If it is, please navigate to Jetpack > Settings > Writing.
Under “Theme enhancements” turn off “Enable the Jetpack Mobile theme.”
If that is not what you mean, please post a link to your site.
Thanks 🙂
Thanks for your response

@irphstop I looked at your site on my iPhone and I do not see any mobile theme active. Colinear is a responsive theme, so it adjusts automatically to different screen sizes to remain readable.
If you explain your end goal we might be able to suggest some workarounds.
So I didn’t explain myself correctly…
I previously used Coraline, and the mobile users saw the site exactly in the same way as in a PC. Now with Colinear I see the site is behaving different, I guess this is what “responsive” means. But I don’t like how it looks like. I think I prefer the website not being responsive. Can I do that?
Thanks for your help
Ah, do you mean that you don’t want the site to be responsive?
I would strongly recommend against doing that – it’s bad for users and it’ll negatively affect your site’s SEO in Google Mobile search.
Google explicitly recommends that all sites be mobile friendly.
The desktop version of a site might be difficult to view and use on a mobile device. The version that’s not mobile-friendly requires the user to pinch or zoom in order to read the content. Users find this a frustrating experience and are likely to abandon the site. Alternatively, the mobile-friendly version is readable and immediately usable – https://developers.google.com/search/mobile-sites/
If you still don’t want the site to be responsive, you’d have to write a considerable amount of CSS to override the media queries from the bottom of style.css – there is no simple option to make a site non-responsive.
You can place custom CSS in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.
Why did I suddenly start receiving notifications of postings on this thread…I have nothing to do with this, except that I use Colinear on a few sites. Would that be a reason that I would be notified of this conversation?
I will unsubscribe once I learn why I was included in the first place.
Thanks,
Steve
