Support » Theme: Virtue » Disable mobile theme

  • Hi there, I want to disable the mobile theme for my site so users can only see the full site on their devices. In the WordPress support it tells you to go to Dashboard -Appearance – Mobile then turn off Enable Mobile Theme. However, I’m using Virtue (free) theme and I do not have this option. How can I disable the mobile theme for my site? Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks! katie

  • Hey Katie,

Since Virtue is designed with responsive framework, there are no options for built into the theme. You would have to code something out or find a plugin that allows for this, but Virtue will always resize out of the box.

    HI Kevin

Thanks for your response, I thought that may be the case. It isn’t the responsiveness that is the issue. I just don’t like the stripped-down version of my website that it defaults to on smartphones as it loses some of the content (the Text Widgets for example, which I use a lot on my site).

    See http://www.montenegro4sail.com.

If smartphone users then select to view full site, everything is there and it looks great – but the basic stripped-down mobile version isn’t as functional as I’d like it to be.

I’m not a CSS coder so I can’t do anything there really – but is there a plugin you could suggest that would stop the mobile version from loading?

    Thanks very much!

    Katie

What content are you losing? You should be able to use the theme as it’s designed and still be able to see all of your content.

Can you share some screenshots of the issues you’re having so that I can take a swing at fixing it with some CSS?

    you can host images here:

    HI Kevin

I can’t post screenshots as the issue is on a smartphone, not my desktop. If you could look at my homepage, you’ll see there is text in the sidebar, using the Text Widget. If you then view it on a mobile (not full site version, just the default mobile version), it does not show the side bar at all so loses these Text widgets.

I only have an iphone so I don’t know what it looks like on other mobile devices!

Thanks for any help you can offer.

actually, the sidebar content gets pushed below your main content in mobile view. It doesn’t disappear.

If you want to keep your sidebar visible in mobile as in desktop, I suggest that you use page builder plugin and configure your sidebar using page builder:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/siteorigin-panels/

Here is a tutorial that should help you get started with this:

    Does this work for you?

    HI Kevin

Sorry for the delay in replying. I agree, the sidebar content does usually sit below in mobile view but in this case, it doesn’t – it just doesn’t appear at all. It sounds like this is a glitch somehow and maybe it’ll right itself.

Page Builder looks interesting though and I am looking at it this morning as it will definitely help with building the site as I go forwards – so thanks very much for that tip.

I might rebuild it with this anyway and see if it fixes the problem.

    Cheers! Katie

What device are you viewing on? When I’m viewing the site on my phone I’m seeing the sidebar drop below the page content.
