I noticed that on installs where auto-update is disabled, the About section says it will email the site owner instead of new security updates. This looks new for RC2 btw?
I can’t find anyway to disable that functionality – specifically to NOT have the site owner emailed about new updates should their site explicitly have auto-updates turned off in the wp-config.
The use case being a Managed WordPress Host, like WP Engine, where we will want to perform updates ourselves (given the additional testing we perform on each client install) and we do not want to confuse clients with these emails.
