Support » Fixing WordPress » Disable crunching of Image Name?

  • Hi Guys!

When uploading pictures in the media gallery, WordPress is not just crunching the photo itself, but also the nice filename we have given to it.
Therefore, the numbers etc we’ve given it, are dissapearing and we can’t search on them anymore.

For example, Steiff_035487_viltdolfijn_seaside_Hesemans.jpg is changed to Steiff_16378

    How can we prevent this?

    Thanks a lot!!!

First, can I ask why the image filenames matter? You can apply your own, human-readable, titles to all of your uploaded images via the Media Library or on upload.

thanks a lot for your quick reply!

    so, when i upload
    Steiff_035487_viltdolfijn_seaside_Hesemans.jpg

    i get
    Steiff_16378

but i need to search on ‘viltdolfijn’ for example… nothing is found now, because the name is cut off

    there is the problem 🙁

Not if you want WordPress to re-size your images. no.

and if I don’t want that anymore? 😀

Set all the image dimensions in Settings -> Media above the largest file that you might upload.

i put all the things on 3000 http://i42.tinypic.com/314s049.jpg
but still, the image of 600×900 is crunched by name 🙁
