Disable calls to fonts.googleapis.com

  • i’m using the twentytwelve theme with a child theme and i want to disable all calls to fonts.googleapis.com. i am not using custom fonts

    in functions.php there is some code and comments relating to this, but i don’t understand it…
    * 4. Custom fonts enabled.

    wp_enqueue_style( 'twentytwelve-fonts', add_query_arg( $query_args, "$protocol://fonts.googleapis.com/css" ), array(), null );

    * To disable in a child theme, use wp_dequeue_style()
    	 * function mytheme_dequeue_fonts() {
    	 *     wp_dequeue_style( 'twentytwelve-fonts' );
    	 * }
    	 * add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'mytheme_dequeue_fonts', 11 );

  • I’m aswell interested on how to disable this, without breaking something. Maybe there is a way to host the fonts on your own server?

    Thank you for the info.

    I want to disable it, because I don’t understand why google has to be embedded in nearly every website on the planet, nowadays.
