    Hi,

How do I disable autoshare on social media when updating a post?
I want to share only when I publish the article for the first time.

    Hi!

I’m not sure I understand the question… so let me try to explain the overall behavior and see if that answers it or, at least, adds some context so that you can rephrase it and I can help.

By default, the plugin can only share content under two circumstances:

    1. When publishing new content. You write a new post, prepare a set of social messages (manually or automatically), and publish it. When the post is published, Nelio Content will automatically publish all the scheduled social messages related to said post.

If you didn’t generate any messages, it will only publish a message on each social network when the post is published.

    2. When resharing old content. Our plugin can also post messages on your social accounts periodically, sharing posts that were published some time ago. This way, even if you don’t write new stuff on your blog, your social media will have some publications attempting to drive content to your site.

So, if you only want to share on social media when a new post is published, you simply need to disable the Reshare setting on all your profiles. You can even tell our plugin “not to reshare anything by default, unless stated otherwise.”

Now, back to your question, what I don’t get is “disable autoshare on social media when updating a post.” If you update an already-published post, it shouldn’t trigger new publications… because this only happens (or “should happen”) if the post goes from non-published to published.

What are you doing exactly? Are you editing old posts? How old are they?

One of my editors updated an old post and it triggered a new social post when he hit the “update” button. But I realized that “reshare” option was by default marked, so I disabled it and now I think everything is fine.

One last question: is it possible to make separate messages for each social network? Cause when I write something in the Facebook field, the text automatically goes to the Twitter field as well.

But we use a lot of Twitter’s @ to tag profiles, and Facebook does not support this option.

Thanks for the info! This shouldn’t have happened, as the “reshare” setting manages something different. That is, Nelio Content is able to reshare “old” content daily without your doing anything, simply by running a cron task and scheduling a whole week of stuff. This, however, only works if “reshare” is enabled in general (under Nelio Content » Settings » Advanced) and/or for that post in particular.

I’ll look into the issue you mentioned anyway. Thanks for letting us know!

Sure, you just need to create the messages one after the other. First, select your Twitter profiles, and create a tweet. Then, create a new social message, but this time select Facebook profiles only.

    Does this make sense?

Hi, yes it worked, but I stumbled across a very annoying thing now: the plugin only allows one tweet per hour. Since we are a news website, this limitation is something we can’t actually afford to have.

Is there any way to increase the limits of tweets per hour? Even when the error message appears and we hit the “send now” button, the tweet does not go live.

Yes, that’s unfortunate, but it’s a limitation we had to implement in our plugin for free users. You can read more about what happened in this comment, but, essentially, the problem is Twitter’s rate limits.
