So I can more accurately answer your question. Is your intent to allow site visitors to submit entries to your directory for your admin approval, or do you want users to register and submit their listing to be maintained by themselves (with or without admin approval? Both workflows are possible; if you let me know which you plan on, I can give you instructions.

You will need at least the Link add-on. This add-on allows registered WP Users to add/edit their directory entry with or without admin moderation:
Optionally, you want the Form add-on. This adds a frontend form that can be used by your site’s registered WP Users instead of their admin profile page.
Connections does not have an add-on for WP User registration. For this, you can use the built-in WP User registration features.
Alternatively, you can use any third-party user registration or form builder plugins to create a custom WP User registration workflow.
