HI. I am moving a site from Joomla to WordPress and I am starting to upload student training material for a Martial Arts site.

I am trying to use this plugin but having an issue. I have read the support texts but it’s not that clear, so hoping you kind people can help.

Basically, I want to do this

1. Hide a menu item called Students so that ONLY ‘students’ group can see it and any public viewer / not logged in user, can’t see it.

e.g https://www.TKD.training/students

2. Block access to ALL pages nested under the parent ‘students’ in pages and any direct URL access will redirect to a registration page

In Joomla, I would just set the menu and the relevant pages to ‘student group’ and automatically, it would do it.

I want to block access UNLESS the user is a member of students and can it be automatic rather than me manually assigning a user?

UPDATE: I can see what the issue is.

This is not inheriting the pages within a parent. My hierarchy is as follows

student learning
– kup grades
– – belt meaning
– dan grades
– – page 1
– – page 2
– – page 3 etc

I had added student learning as a page in the access conditions and I had set the option ‘Auto-select new children of selected items’ in settings. I assumed this meant all ‘child’ pages of the selected page would be included. They are not.

I also tried adding kup grades and dan grades to see if it was an issue being parent / child / child but doesn’t work

e.g

https://www.tkd.training/students/ *works
https://www.tkd.training/students/kup-grades/ * works
https://www.tkd.training/students/dan-grades/ * works

BUT the next one, a child of kup-grades is accessible:

https://www.tkd.training/students/kup-grades/belt-meanings/

Thank you for reporting this.

The option “Auto-select new children of selected items” only works when new sub/child-pages are created, it will not add existing content to the conditions.
Can you confirm that if you manually add belt-meanings to the condition group, it will be restricted properly? Or is it accessible by direct url even then?

The URL’s are accessible even if defined manually in the edit access settings

I have this hierarchy

https://www.tkd.training/students/training-material/page3
https://www.tkd.training/students/training-material/page4 etc

It’s weird. It kind of works on some pages and not others randomly and I see no logic. I have removed pages, re-added them, removed the edit access role completely and re-set but I get different results each time.

It’s not cache issue as I am testing incognito mode.
