I updated to the latest version of Google Calendar Events and I got a call yesterday afternoon that my site is displaying 2 different versions of the calendar times. See http://www.sloworkforce.com by looking at the Home page sidebar calendar then navigate to another page and the sidebar shows completely different times for the same events. I tried purging GCE cache several times and the website cache but it just will not clear up. Suggestions?

UPDATE: Navigate through the Meetings/Agenda Minutes pages and you will see the oddball times.

    Hi there,

I just went through your site and understood the problem

If you are willing to experiment, there’s a development version of the plugin that tries to tackle some timezone issue and discrepancy in calendar times https://github.com/moonstonemedia/WP-Google-Calendar-Events/archive/fulvio-timezone-tweaks.zip

I’m not sure if it will solve your problem – it’s a development version but you can temporarily try this, perhaps if you have a staging website or local development website for testing.

If it doesn’t solve your issue I’ll try to look into it further.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply and offer of the development version but we do not have a Linux development site as a sandbox. I may try it on my personal laptop at home and see if it resolves the problem.

How soon do you suspect this development version will be available for production distribution?

you don’t need linux, that’s just a development version of the wordpress plugin; you can grab the contents inside ‘/google-calendar-events’ in the zip file and upload it to a WordPress installation in ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ as you would do with any WordPress plugin (installed manually though)

it should be available on wordpress.org between by next week I think, maybe earlier

Thanks. I have a WP instance on my Windows laptop and I will try it tomorrow.

I went into Settings/General and updated the Timezone back to UTC and it appears to have solved my problem.

are you using the plugin version I linked above or the version you had since you first opened this thread?

Version 2.2.7 which is the version since opening this thread. I restored plugins from a point in time (July 16) which was version 2.2.6 but that version had the same time zone problem.

    ok cool,

so maybe don’t bother installing the version I provided here…

it’ll do the same thing, but you can keep your time zone in WordPress to whichever you like so it can be accurate with your time zone and your post dates will display accurately

you should get this in the next 2.2.8 somewhere between tomorrow and beginning of the next week

    thanks
